Overview

Job Summary: This position is responsible for leadership among all nursing staff and clinical nursing operations. The Manager has clinical responsibility for risk management, utilization management, and specific specialties such as behavioral health and care coordination services offered by the agency.  A&C is a leading provider of primary care, behavioral health, and addictions treatment in Central Indiana and is rapidly expanding within the market.  This position will lead and support the clinical efforts of a multi-disciplinary team of providers across multiple locations in central Indiana.  This position will work closely with the Director of Practice Management, Director of Community Health and the Medical Director on quality and targeted population health initiatives.

Responsibilities

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  1. Participates at senior-management level in all planning, budgeting, policy making, and decision making related to clinical operations involving nursing staff.
  2. Maintains nursing policies and procedures which conform to nursing best practices and maximize work flow efficiencies around rooming patients, POC lab testing and documentation, and medication management for a disabled population, to name a few.
  3. In partnership with the agency Chief Clinical Officer, lead risk management and continuous quality improvement initiatives in nursing services
  4. Monitors nursing adherence to practice protocols. 
  5. Monitors patient outcomes, patient satisfaction surveys, and other metrics as indicators of nursing performance.
  6. Develops an on-going training plan for nursing
  7. Collaborates with physicians, medical professionals, consultants, community agencies, and institutions to improve the quality of nursing services and resolve identified problems.
  8. Stays current with state, federal, and payer regulations/requirements and updates professional standards for nursing for the medical practice appropriately.
  9. Supports clinical staff through side by side teaching and coaching practices
  10. Believes in the power of having a “floor presence” in nursing leadership. 

Qualifications

Qualifications

Education: RN required

 

Experience: Minimum 5 years of nursing experience with progressively increasing management/operations experience.  Experience in behavioral health nursing preferred, knowledge or experience in a Federal Qualified Health Center is a plus.

 

Other Requirements:

  • Current state RN license.
  • Current CPR certification.

 

Performance Requirements:

 

Knowledge:

  1. Knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and procedures.
  2. Knowledge of federal, state, and payer regulations and requirements related to nursing including patient safety, infection control, and confidentiality.
  3. Knowledge of medical terminology.
  4. Knowledge of quality assurance, risk management, utilization management, and outcomes management standards.

 

Skills:

  1. Skill in time management and prioritizing work.
  2. Skill in the human resource management of staff from recruitment through evaluation and termination.
  3. Skill in utilizing computerized systems (EMR’s) to gather data, analyze results, and make recommendations.
  4. Skill in developing/monitoring budgets and maintaining cost-effective nursing practices.
  5. Skill in general clinical nursing competencies such as acquisition of vitals, basic triage, medication administration and blood draws.

 

Abilities:

  1. Ability to analyze data, problem solve, and make decisions related to nursing issues.
  2. Ability to communicate with all levels and departments about nursing topics.
  3. Ability to make presentations before top management, public groups, and staff.
  4. Ability to collaborate with senior managers to improve clinical operations.
  5. Ability to competently use Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and appropriate practice management software

 

 

 

Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment with emphasis on computer hardware and software. Occasional use of nursing equipment, particularly for training purposes.

 

Work Environment: Primarily medical offices.  Some external meetings with payers, regulators, and industry representatives.
