Overview

Adult and Child Center partners with over 100 schools in central Indiana to help students with behavioral health needs. Our Skills Development Specialists work one-on-one with students in the classroom, or in a school setting, to build needed skills. They also work with students and their families/caregivers in the home to provide a full range of support. 

 

The Skills Development Specialist works with our School-Based Teams, which also include a Team Leader, Psychologist, and Staff Therapist. Skills Development Specialists help children and teens develop behavioral health- related skills to succeed academically and socially, creating a lasting impact throughout their lives.

Responsibilities

  • One-on-one skill building with students
  • Skill building with caregivers/families in the home setting
  • Case management
  • Crisis intervention/safety planning
  • Create accurate, timely progress notes and reports/documentation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related behavioral health field 
  • Previous experience in behavioral health or working with children/teens preferred but not required
  • Interested in helping students, grades pre-K through 12, with behavioral health needs
  • Available during school hours, as well as after school to meet with students and caregivers
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships with a variety of individuals (psychologists, teachers, guidance counselors, and other school/A&C staff) 
  • Must hold a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and provide own, insured, transportation
